I have been told that I have a
9cm cyst in my liver and want to do a cleanse. A friend
suggested that I take Milk thistle to cleanse the liver. I
started to experience pain in my back (kidney area) with the
Milk thistle . Perhaps it was putting too much pressure on them
to excrete toxins as well. I do not know a good practitioner in
Montreal, Quebec Canada and have trying things on my own. Do you
know anyone in Montreal who can guide me? Any advice about the
milk thistle?
Your cyst is a gift. But is may
also be the red flag, the notice that your liver is needing
attention. My first suggestion is to do the non-malignant
modified Gerson Therapy program found on page 400 of the newest
6th edition of Dr. Gerson's book: A CANCER THERAPY: RESULTS OF
FIFTY CASES. This is essentially the Gerson dietary regimen and
two coffee enemas a day with modifications in the number of
juices and the medications. You can do this and go to work at
the same time. Unfortunately the only practitioners I have in
Eastern Canada are in Ontario, but you can do this Therapy
(especially the modified non-maglinant version) just by reading
the two books and getting the videos. "The life you save may be
your own" is a very good old saying. Regarding Milk Thistle, so
glad you have asked. It is one of my favorite liver support
herbs. NOTE: I said "liver support", not detoxification. That is
not its job, but it will support the liver and protect it during
the detoxification process. There is a wonderful article:
"Enhancing Liver Detoxification" by Farid Wassef, R. Ph. From
the American Journal of Natural Medicine (Vol 5, No. 9 November,
1998). Get a copy and you will have good reading. I do not think
your back pain was related to the milk thistle. In the article
it states a typical dose is 200 mg, three times a day with
meals. Many people don't even take that much. Research on milk
thistle is abundant. Over 200 clinical studies have been
published to date. The famous PDR (Physicians Desk Reference)
now has an "Herbal PDR" published since 1999. In there it states
there are no interactions and no contraindications for this
wonderful herb. Look for articles in natural health and herbal
magazines. My best to you on your healing journey to great liver
health!
